Location: Wellcome Genome Campus, Hinxton, CB10 1SA (click for map)

Dates: Monday 21 – Friday 25 July 2025
Are you a Year 12 student fascinated by how our genes influence health and disease? We have a unique work experience opportunity for six students in our Human Genetics Department, where you’ll explore how genetic variation can affect the risk of autoimmune diseases and rare developmental disorders.
This will be an immersive opportunity to join both our wet- and dry-lab teams. You’ll observe, prepare cDNA for sequencing, and analyse the quality of DNA samples. You’ll also join the Human Genetics Informatics team to learn about gene structure and how to use public genome databases.
Throughout the week, you’ll have the chance to participate in research discussions, explore ongoing studies, and experience what it’s like to work at the forefront of genetic research.
